Top of PageGeneral Rules and Regulations
These are the general rules for conduct within the Guild. Any violation of these rules is grounds for being outcast from the Guild. If you witness a violation of these rules, do not begin an argument with the person. If you wish to say anything to them, politely remind them of the rule(s) they are violating and leave it at that. If the behaviour continues, report it to the Leader, First or Second, and allow them to handle the situation accordingly. If the behaviour violates a rule of the Realms of Despair, it may be reported to an Immortal. We understand that sometimes mistakes happen, and everyone is entitled to a second chance.
1) The primary responsibility of a Guilded Mage is to respect and help (within their capacity) their fellow Guildmembers. Fellow players within the Realms should also be treated with respect in the spirit of this credo.
2) Members will address each other with respect over Guild channels: any and all personal attacks and foul language over Guild channels or within the Guild will not be tolerated.
3) Guild items and Guild donation items are not to be given, sold, traded or auctioned to non-guildmembers, nor are guild donation items to be used to further one's own personal finances by way of Midas Touch, selling or auctioning. Non-guilded alternate characters of Guildmembers are also not allowed to benefit in this way.
4) An exception to the above rule is brewed potions and heal potions that are bought from guild donations. These may be used on non-guilded alternate characters. The guild mana potions may not be used on non-guilded alternate characters.
5) When trading or selling a Guilded character to someone outside the Guild, the original owner must post a note announcing the transaction in the Guild Library, and must have the character outcast prior to the transaction.
6) Supplicating of corpses is allowed in the guild. However, those supplicating their corpse should try to make sure that they avoid doing so in rooms where people are likely to gather such as recall or the guild noteboards.
7) Members are encouraged to attend all Guild general meetings and participate in Guild functions.
8) Guild members are responsible for keeping abreast of the regulations and rules governing the Guild, as ignorance of these guidelines will not be considered a valid excuse.
Top of PageEtiquette
The Guild is one whole being. Each member is a part of that whole and therefore must act accordingly. In general, Guild etiquette is just a matter of common sense.
1) Respect all members of the Guild at all times. We are one big family in the Guild and everyone should get along. Even if there are cases where friction is present, respect is still a must. Settle your differences in a manner befitting a Guilded Mage. Should you be unable to settle your differences, the Guild Leaders are available for mediation.
2) The Guild channel is there for all Guildmembers to use. There will be no profanity or other rude comments made on this channel. Have the channel on at all times unless under special circumstances, and if such a need arises, do not turn it off before telling the Guild that you are doing so.
3) We are all in the Guild together, so it is to the benefit of all if you can lend a hand. Take time to help a fellow Mage if they are in distress - you never know, perhaps it will be you who will be in need of aid someday.
4) Being a member of the Guild of Mages means that you represent the Guild to the Realms in every word you say and every action you perform. Leave a good impression of our Guild on others. Treat the other people of the Realms with courtesy, and remember, the rules and laws of the Realms still apply to you.
The above should be followed by all members of the Guild at all times. These simple guidelines will only serve to make the Guild of Mages a better and happier place to be.
Top of PageInduction Process
To apply to The Guild of Mages you must have reached level 20 or higher. The first thing you should do is read this guide and familiarize yourself with all the information within, as you are currently doing. Very good. The next step is to read the noteboard located in the Guild recruiting office, where you got this book. The notes located there will explain to you in detail how to go about starting your application process.
Part of the application process will include an interview with an IT member, where you will be asked questions about yourself, your time in the Realms, and about the information found in this guidebook, on the recruiting board, and on the Guild website. If your interview goes well, you may be given a quest of different tasks to perform. Upon completing your quest within the prescribed time and within the guidelines given to you, you may then be inducted into the Guild of Mages as an Initiate.
Top of PageInitiates
Upon first being inducted into the Guild, you will be required to put the word Initiate somewhere in your title. This lets the Guild know that you are a new member. As an Initiate, you are not quite a full member of the Guild. Consider the time with the flag to be a probation period. You will be observed for a period of one month. During this time, if you are active, do not break Guild rules, and fit well in the guild, then you may be promoted to full member. If not, you will either stay an initiate, or face outcast. Leaders or elder members may wish to give the initiates a test, so be prepared. This test is normally over general Guild knowledge and current events. While an Initiate you will not be allowed to nominate or vote in Guild elections. After being inducted, Initiates are also required to post a short note in the Guild Library introducing themselves to the rest of the Guild.
Top of PageCouncils
There are various councils within the Guild, each performing a particular function. Here is a general list of councils to be found in the Guild. We encourage you to participate in and join any council that interests you.
Induction Team (IT)
This council is in charge of screening potential candidates for the Guild. The induction and questing process is under their control as well.
Mentor-Apprentice Program (MAP)
This program is for mages who have not yet obtained level 20 but wish to receive assistance in gaining the experience necessary to join the Guild. Apprentices in the program normally move on to quest for full membership into the Guild. Mages who have already been inducted may also seek mentoring help.
Quest Council (QC)
Quest Council is in charge of putting together fun quests for the guild to enjoy. These quests can be trivia, mobkill, or scavenger hunts, for example.
War Magi (WM)
This council is made up of experienced mages who lead guild members to various mobs throughout the game in order to gain equipment. They also teach new mages the ins and outs of running various mobs.
Mages' Expeditionary Force (MEF)
These Mages enjoy exploring the Realms and share with the Guild the information they find regarding maps, mobs, and items found throughout the Realms.
Top of PageParticipation Points
Participation points are awards given out by the Guild leaders for joining in different Guild activities. These can be earned by taking part in a Guild quest, being part of a group going on a mob-killing run, or simply performing duties assigned to them as a member of a Guild council.
These points are recorded and tracked by the leaders, and are worth the equivalent of 1 million coins per point. Points may be cashed in to obtain some of the more expensive items located in Guild storage.
